For the eighth time in a row, Würth is supporting UNICEF by donating part of the proceeds of the RW WORKOUT Week to a UNICEF program. The donation of EUR 400,000 will be used to establish and expand integrated children shelters in Ecuador.
“Children in Ecuador grow up in an environment characterized by armed violence and insecurity. With this donation, we are supporting UNICEF in providing safe havens for children and adolescents in Ecuador, thus giving them a place where they can grow up protected and discover new perspectives,” Bettina Würth, Member of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group and Member of the Board of UNICEF Germany, said about the company’s commitment.
Protection and perspectives for children in need
Ecuador has seen a dramatic increase in armed violence in recent years, with children and adolescents in particular suffering from the consequences. Since 2019, the killing of minors has increased by an alarming 770 percent. Many young people are exposed to mental stress, exploitation, discrimination, and a growing lack of perspective.
This donation will help provide young people in integrated children shelters with access to medical care, psychosocial support, education, and creative support programs. At the same time, these shelters offer safe spaces, in which children can learn, play, and process their traumatic experiences.
Georg Graf Waldersee, Chairman of the Board of UNICEF Germany, said: “We would like to express our sincere thanks for your continued support! For the eighth year in a row, employees of the Würth Group have shown extraordinary commitment as part of the Group’s campaign week, once again demonstrating their strong support for UNICEF’s work for children worldwide. This year’s donation will help bring lasting change to the lives of Ecuador’s most vulnerable children. Like all children, these kids have the right to be protected from violence, to grow up healthy, and to develop as individuals. UNICEF’s children shelters are central to making this happen.”
